Question: I’ve seen many before and after pictures of people who have undergone ethnic rhinoplasty. However, I’m a Native American and have not seen a single picture of anyone of my race. Would I be a candidate for ethnic rhinoplasty or regular rhinoplasty? What can I expect from surgery?
Answer: Rhinoplasty is the surgery to improve the nose and bring balance and harmony to the face. “Ethnic Rhinoplasty” is simply rhinoplasty in an ethnic patient. The techniques are not unique to just ethnic patients. Many of the same ethnic rhinoplasty techniques are used with Caucasian rhinoplasty patients or in revision rhinoplasty cases. Just make sure you choose a surgeon who has experience with all races, sexes and ethnicities. Making sure your nose “fits” your face is the important criteria and one that comes from specialization and experience in “diagnosis” of different nose problems BEFORE a rhinoplasty.
