What is Daxxify?
Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA) is an FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A made by Revance Therapeutics. It came to market as a longer-acting toxin, and some studies suggest its results can last longer than the typical three to four months of Botox and Dysport when it is dosed properly. For some patients, that can mean fewer visits a year. Results vary from person to person.
Daxxify is used much like traditional Botox. Most commonly it softens the frown lines between the eyebrows, and it can also be used for forehead lines and crow’s feet around the eyes.
Instead of human serum albumin, Revance formulates Daxxify with a peptide stabilizer, which the company credits for its longer duration. Our physicians will discuss Daxxify, Botox and Dysport with you and help you choose the right one for your goals.
How does Daxxify work for wrinkles?
Like Botox, Daxi blocks nerve impulses from interacting with the targeted facial muscles, in other words it temporarily doesn’t allow the nerves involved in motor function to talk to the muscles. This effect results in muscles of the face relaxing and preventing the formation of wrinkles or softening the appearance of wrinkles that already exist.
Where can Daxxify be injected?
Daxxify is usually injected in a similar fashion as is traditional botox. For example on the forehead Daxxi can help improve the appearance of lines between the eyebrows or forehead lines. It can also be injected in other places, like the massater muscles (also called TMJ Botox) or just above the lip for a Lip Flip.
What to expect after my Daxxi treatment?
The recovery after treatment with Daxxify is similar to that of traditional Botox or Dysport. The injection site may be slightly red and swollen immediately after the treatment, but this should resolve within a few hours. You may also experience bruising, which should disappear within a week. You will start to notice softening of lines and wrinkles at the targeted areas within 1-2 days.

Are There Any Moderate to Severe Side Effects?
So far, side effects from Daxxify treatments include headache, drooping eyelids, swelling at the injection site, facial asymmetry, and the inability to move muscles on the face — which are basically the same side effects as other forms of neurotoxins.
How do I stay comfortable during my Daxxify treatment?
The injections are quick, and most patients tolerate them well. If you are sensitive to needles, let your physician know and we will help keep you comfortable.
