The Neck Lift Procedure
The neck lift is the standard for neck skin tightening. It can improve the appearance of loose skin and extra fat deposits of the neck. Candidates for the neck lift include healthy patients with good underlying bony architecture and no jowls. The neck lift involves hidden incisions which are camouflaged within the hairline and inside of the ear for women or in front of the ear for men. For the most natural and long-lasting results without a “pulled-back” look, Dr. Kulak performs a modified composite lift with SMAS elevation and imbrication. Platysma suture corset tightening (plication) and liposuction are also performed through a small incision under the chin.
Neck liposuction can improve the appearance of excess fat in the neck area. Candidates include healthy patients aged eighteen to fifty who have a good underlying bony architecture, moderate fat, minimal jowls, and no loose skin. Neck liposuction involves a very small incision which is hidden under the chin. Excess fat is then removed and the incision is closed.
Good Candidates for Neck Lift
Submentoplasty is a neck skin tightening procedure which can improve the appearance of loose skin and excess fat of the neck. Candidates include healthy patients who have good underlying bony architecture and no jowls. The procedure is ideal for patients ranging in age from their late 30’s to their 70’s who are looking to improve the appearance of the neck without undergoing a full neck lift. It is not intended for patients with heavy or obese necks.
Submentoplasty involves a small, hidden “T” incision which is located under the chin. Once the incision is made, extra skin and fat are removed. This “T” incision technique is only performed by a handful of facial plastic surgeons and is the key to the success of this operation in addressing loose neck tissue. In essence, Dr. Naderi’s “T” incision submentoplasty is a mini neck lift with fantastic results in the proper patient population.
Neck Lift Recovery
Patients may experience some swelling and bruising after the neck lift, neck liposuction, or submentoplasty. Any discomfort can be controlled with medication. Stitches are removed in about seven days. Most patients can return to work in about five days after neck liposuction, five to seven days after submentoplasty, and in about ten days after a neck lift. Most strenuous activities will need to be postponed for two to three weeks.
