Dr. Naderi is truly an artist!
First off, congratulations! You found Dr. Naderi, so the hardest part is complete. Going through this process is scary, it is your face after all. But now that you have found Dr. Naderi, you are in the best hands possible, literally. He cares so much about you as a patient and goes above and beyond. It says all this on his website but something I found so interesting is that he is specifically certified for the face. This is so important. A double board certified facial plastic surgeon is hard to come by, let alone with his bedside manor. Okay, enough bragging, he is the best. End of story.
My Experience
I found it incredibly helpful reading through other peoples stories on here about their experience with and wanted to post my own to help others. Its helps a lot knowing what to expect from a first hand experience. I had always been dissatisfied with my nose, it wasn’t “big” but I felt as though it didn’t fit my face. I wanted my other features to stand out if that makes sense. I felt as though it distracted from my face. In this selfie taking culture, we tend to overcritize ourselves. We are all beautiful and woman especially have it hard. But that’s not to say I’m not able to fix something about myself that would make me feel more confident. So there it is. I finally went on the hunt. Internet research was what I did most. I looked all around the D.C and northern VA area. Honestly, there were a lot of surgeons but I couldn’t say I felt incredibly comfortable with the results looking at before and after photos. I didn’t want a cookie cutter nose that was put on everyone. I wanted a nose to fit my face. I soon found the Naderi Center. I stalked their website, Facebook page, Real Self page and everything I could find. It’s pretty hard to find a FACIAL plastic surgeon, let alone one that seems to please everyone with their results. By this time it was October, and I was thinking, “okay sweet, I can get it done around Christmas time”. Then, I called and to my surprise, he is booked out for 2 1/2 months, just for a consultation! I was thinking I could get in next week, haha boy was I wrong. So when planning, plan in advance! But think, every person on the planet wants to see him, he is that popular, I actually loved that he was so busy because it calmed my nerves of getting a bad result. So I booked my consult, I had to reschedule one time, so this put me in at the beginning of January.
Consultation
I had gone to no previous consults with any other doctors before this. Just throwing that out there. When I walked into the Maryland office, I was immediately welcomed and felt at home. Everyone was so nice. I filled out a few forms, then went into a room for the nose exam. Dr. Naderi came in a few minutes later and just talked with me about what I wanted and disliked about my current nose. He had me describe my perfect nose. I brought in photos of my nose, the profile view and others so I could describe what I wanted changed. He was so patient and down to earth. And man does he know his stuff. He described everything to me. He then took photos of me from different angles. We then went into another room with a monitor to look at my photos. It was so laid back and just as if you were talking to a friend. He brought my photos on the screen and began describing different aspects of my face, what would look good, what wouldn’t. All during this time, he was manipulating the photo using computer imaging. I couldn’t believe the difference in my nose between the two photos. He really reassured me about exactly what I was feeling. My nose wasn’t huge, but a few adjustments could be made to make it look that much better. He also suggested having a small chin implant put it to really even out my profile. He only operates on the nose, so her partner would do the chin implant. I will leave a review for that as well, but as you can guess, she’s awesome and did an amazing job. Surprisingly I walked out of there more confident that I was going in! He took time to answer any and all questions, he really welcomes questions so be prepared to ask. After we talked, about 15 minutes later, I met with Sarah to go over logistics. Sarah, is basically the nicest person ever, you will want to be her best friend. She answered even more of my questions and set everything up. I can’t imagine how busy she is and she takes as much time as you need, making sure everything is answered. She truly knows Dr. Naderi is the best as well and definitely believes in his work. I really cannot say enough about everyone that works at the Naderi Center.
2 weeks before the surgery, I had a pre op visit. Basically going through all the information, what to do, what not to do, what to eat, etc. with Sarah and met with Dr. Naderi for a few minutes to calm any nerves and answer any more questions. The doctor was on maternity leave so I only met with Dr. Naderi but he answered all questions about the chin as well. The one thing I can say is LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN. There are a lot of foods that you cannot eat 2 weeks before surgery, I had such a plain diet because basically everything I eat has garlic in it. Which is a no no. Read all labels very carefully, extra bleeding can affect your surgery. Not gonna lie, it is not fun eating plain foods but its worth it. Do everything they tell you and you will be good to go.
The Surgery
Day of surgery, I went in to Reston Surgical Center and filled out more forms, paid and went into a waiting room with a bed. I took a couple pills and then the doctor came in to draw all over my chin. She really is so nice and is very knowledgeable. I really wasn’t too worried about this chin because it was such a small procedure but I heard it was more painful that the nose. Dr. Naderi had a surgery before me but came in after. He calmed any fears and was awesome as always. The whole staff at Reston really impressed me as well. I was asleep before I even got through the operating doors. I woke up in recovery, drank some juice and it was time to go home.I wasn’t in that much pain after the surgery, must’ve been the drugs. Because of the nose and chin, I legit could not open my mouth. I was fed soup by my husband with the worlds smallest spoon, and slept (elevated) a lot. My surgery lasted about 3- 31/2 hours. I was out but I think that’s what my husband said. Get this, Dr. Naderi personally called to check on my that night, how cool are they? Not going to lie, sleeping was pretty miserable the whole week. I didn’t have a recliner, I suggest having one, so I slept on a lot of pillows. Dr. Naderi told me 45 degrees.
Day 3
They tell you this day is the worst, so I will talk about this one, they are not wrong. Day 3 was pretty miserable, not going to lie. The pressure was intense with all the swelling. Its doable but just expect it and drink lots of pineapple juice and take the arnica pills the give you, it helps a lot. I usually bruise a lot, I have fair skin but surprisingly, my bruising wasn’t bad at all. My advice is ice, ice, ice. I iced like crazy, 20 mins on and 20 mins off all day everyday for the whole week, I was addicted haha but it helped so so much. It was all downhill after day three. Swelling went down a lot. But just expect a lot of swelling on day 3 and 4. I expected it but still underestimated it, if that makes sense. I probably took a total of 4 pain killers on the hard days. Tylenol was enough for me the rest of the week.Post- op
Ahhh! Such an exciting day. Throughout the week, I was constantly taking after photos, even with the cast on, and could tell the biggest difference. The removal of the splint does not hurt at all, just like slowly pulling off a band aid. Your nose does immediately start to swell once the splint is off. But WOW. The biggest most amazing difference. Dr. Naderi really went above and beyond for me. We discussed ahead of time that he may need to make my nostrils small because of the difference in the nose but he would decide that in surgery after he was done. He ended up making them smaller and my nose looks so cute and dainty. He shows you how to press on the top sides of your nose twice a day. Pineapple juice will be in your future for quite some time. Cleaning your nose is important and making sure it is moist (I know I hate that word also). I cant stop looking at it from the side. It’s like I no longer have to constantly not get profile shots in photos anymore. He is truly an artist. My chin looks amazing as well. Everything is still swollen but even swollen its such a big difference. They are truly rockstars and I have no hesitation in saying its one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. There is a lot more to come with the swelling going down but I strongly encourage you, if you are thinking about doing it, go for it. You will not be disappointed. Thank you to all the staff at the Naderi Center for all you do. Its evident you love your job and people, you really are making a difference. Dr Naderi are a true artist.
Random facts/advice
The nose and the chin really wasn’t that bad, I would recommend doing it together rather than apart, I mean may as well go all out haha.
Its really hard to open your mouth, prepare ahead of time with soft foods
Dr Naderi answered any worries or concerns post op within the hour, how cool is that? He personally takes time to respond to your emails, no matter how silly or weird the email is. He truly cares about you.
Ice a lot, it really helped me with swelling (not after the splint is over, just during recovery week)
Vaseline! My lips got so chapped because my mouth was constantly open, I basically smothered my lips with Vaseline
My lip swelled a lot, a lot. It went down, so don’t be scared if it looks like you went overboard on lip fillers
Take a lot of before photos from different angles, you’ll forget what it was like before and it is so fun to compare
Its hard to smile after surgery, I mean, don’t smile because it can drop your tip early but I am a week out and I still cant smile. So just expect that as well.
Honestly, I think the nose was more uncomfortable than the chin but its only because of pressure, don’t get me wrong, both were annoying and uncomfortable. Its not that painful just uncomfortable.
You seriously won’t regret this. Feel free to ask me any questions, I would love to help you in any way I can!
