The mini cheek lift, also referred to as a short scar facelift, an S-lift or a J-lift, is a plastic surgery procedure which can rejuvenate the face by tightening loose skin in the cheek and jowl area. Lifestyle Lift, Quick Lift, and some other “trade marked” lifts are variations of this procedure.
If you are healthy, have good underlying bony architecture, and are looking to improve the appearance of minor loose skin and jowls, then a mini cheek lift may be right for you. The procedure is particularly well-suited for younger patients seeking a touch-up rather than a full facelift. This procedure is not a replacement for a cheek-neck lift or facelift if there is an excessive amount of skin or fat to be addressed.
During a consultation for a mini cheek lift, Dr. Naderi will examine your face, take a thorough medical history, and discuss your goals. All aspects of the mini cheek lift procedure will be discussed including the facility, the anesthesia, the recovery, the costs the risks, and so on.
Dr. Naderi performs mini cheek lifts at INOVA system hospitals which include Fair Oaks Hospital, Loudoun Hospital, Fairfax Hospital, and Mt. Vernon Hospital. Occasionally more limited procedures may be done under local anesthesia in the office.
MAC (monitored anesthesia care) or local anesthesia may be used for the mini cheek lift.
For the mini cheek lift, small incisions are made inside of the hairline and inside of the ear for women or in front of the ear for men. Dr. Naderi performs a modified composite lift with SMAS elevation and imbrication. This provides long-lasting, natural results without a “pulled-back” look. Liposuction may also be used during the procedure.
The mini cheek lift takes abut an hour to complete.
Incisions for the mini cheek lift are small and located within the hairline and inside of the ear for women or in front of the ear for men.
The incisions made for the mini cheek lift do result in scars, though they are well-concealed within the hairline and inside of or in front of the ear.
Recovery after a mini cheek lift takes about five to seven days. Swelling and bruising are usually minor.
Patients can return to work in about one week after the mini cheek lift.
Patients will need to wait about two weeks after the mini cheek lift before partaking in strenuous activities and exercise.
The stitches may be removed in about seven days after the mini cheek lift.
All surgery carries potential risks. Those associated with the mini cheek lift include bleeding and fluid collection (1-3%).
Insurance typically does not cover mini cheek lift procedures when they are performed for purely cosmetic purposes. However, patients should be sure to check with their own insurance company.
Financing is available for many plastic surgery procedures.
