The mid-face lift is a plastic surgery procedure designed to elevate the mid-face area and improve the appearance of smile lines and drooping or flat cheeks. By repositioning tissue and lifting the skin of the cheeks, the mid-face lift provides a more youthful and rejuvenated cheek contour. The mid-face lift may be performed on its own or in combination with other procedures like fat injection, a brow lift, eyelid lift, or facelift.
If you are healthy and looking to improve the appearance of deep nasolabial folds and flat cheeks, a mid-face lift may be right for you.
During a consultation for a mid-face lift, Dr. Naderi will examine your face, take a thorough medical history, and discuss your goals. All aspects of the procedure will be explained including the technique, the facility, the anesthesia, the recovery, the costs, the risks and so on.
Dr. Naderi performs mid-face lifts at INOVA system hospitals which include Fair Oaks Hospital, Loudoun Hospital, Fairfax Hospital, and Mt. Vernon Hospital.
MAC (monitored anesthesia care) or general anesthesia may be used for the mid-face lift.
For a mid-face lift, incisions may be made inside of the mouth, along the lash line of the lower eyelid, and/or within the hairline. The mid-face area is then elevated in a subperiosteal plane and sutures or an Endotine device are used to suspend the area.
The mid-face lift takes about one and a half hours to complete.
The incisions for the mid-face lift may be made inside of the mouth, along the lash line of the lower eyelid, and/or within the hairline.
The incisions made for the mid-face lift are well hidden inside of the mouth, along the lash line of the lower eyelid and/or within the hairline, resulting in small, well-concealed scars.
Patients may experience some tightness of the skin or other discomfort. Medication can help to control this.
Recovery after a mid-face lift takes about one to two weeks. Patients should expect some swelling and bruising. The swelling can take several weeks to fade.
Patients can return to work in about two weeks after the mid-face lift.
Patients will need to wait at least two to three weeks after the mid-face lift before partaking in strenuous activities and exercise.
External stitches are removed in about seven days.
All surgery carries potential risks. Those associated with the mid-face lift include possible edema for several weeks and infection.
Mid-face lifts are usually not covered by insurance as they are considered cosmetic. However, patients should be sure to check with their own insurance company.
Financing is available for many plastic surgery procedures.
