The mini cheek lift is a plastic surgery procedure designed to tighten the cheek and jowl area. It is ideal for patients who are looking for just a touch-up rather than a full facelift. Candidates for the mini cheek lift include healthy younger patients who have good underlying bony architecture, minimal loose skin, and minimal jowls.
Dr. Kulak
Dr. Kulak performs the mini cheek lift at Countryside Ambulatory Surgery Center or at an INOVA system hospital which include Fair Oaks Hospital, Loudoun Hospital, Fairfax Hospital, and Mt. Vernon Hospital. The procedure takes about an hour to complete and may be performed with MAC (monitored anesthesia care) or local anesthesia.
The Mini Cheek Lift Procedure

The mini cheek lift involves small hidden incisions which are camouflaged within the hairline and inside of the ear for women or in front of the ear for men. To provide the most natural and long-lasting results without a “pulled-back” look, Dr. Kulak performs a modified composite lift with SMAS elevation and imbrication. Liposuction is occasionally used as well.
After Mini Cheek Lift Surgery
There is minimal swelling and bruising associated with the mini cheek lift. Recovery takes five to seven days, and the stitches will be removed in about seven days. Most patients can return to work in about a week, though more strenuous activities will need to be postponed for about two weeks.
Mini Cheek Lift FAQs
The mini cheek lift, also referred to as a short scar facelift, an S-lift or a J-lift, is a plastic surgery procedure which can rejuvenate the face by tightening loose skin in the cheek and jowl area. Lifestyle Lift, Quick Lift, and some other “trade marked” lifts are variations of this procedure.
If you are healthy, have good underlying bony architecture, and are looking to improve the appearance of minor loose skin and jowls, then a mini cheek lift may be right for you. The procedure is particularly well-suited for younger patients seeking a touch-up rather than a full facelift. This procedure is not a replacement for a cheek-neck lift or facelift if there is an excessive amount of skin or fat to be addressed.
During a consultation for a mini cheek lift, Dr. Kulak will examine your face, take a thorough medical history, and discuss your goals. All aspects of the mini cheek lift procedure will be discussed including the facility, the anesthesia, the recovery, the costs the risks, and so on.
Dr. Kulak performs mini cheek lifts at INOVA system hospitals which include Fair Oaks Hospital, Loudoun Hospital, Fairfax Hospital, and Mt. Vernon Hospital. Occasionally more limited procedures may be done under local anesthesia in the office.
