Hello Dr.,
I had a gore-tex implant placed 10 years ago under the chin. Shortly after the op I noticed the implant had shifted to the right and up – it is definitely noticeable. I wanted to see if it is possible to have a gore-tex removed so many years later and what risks it entails. I also wanted to have another, better fitting implant reinserted? If so, what material do you prefer? I have a very small amount of sagging skin under the chin and weak jaw so prob lipo as well.(also wanted to see you what think about the effectiveness of lipo under chin and for jawline is – I find mixed reviews) I have read your posts and have great respect for your opinions. I am in NYC – are there any surgeons you know of in the tri-state/NYC that have direct experience with gore-tex removal and reinsertion of second implant? Thx

Hi and thank you for the kind words.
Chin implants can be removed and a new one replaced. After some time, the old implant actually creates some bone resorption due to pressure on your chin bone so the chin itself shrinks a bit. Time and age does this as well. The implant will have a scar tissue capsule around it so that helps augment the area a bit even after implant removal. Gore-Tex implants are easier to remove than Medpor. I prefer Mersilene mesh implants and I have a video on youtube demonstrating my unique implant which is more natural looking and feeling. I cannot tell you if you would benefit fro liposuction of the submental area under your chin or not without seeing you but loose skin can get worse with liposuction alone and that may not be the answer for you. See a few good doctors in NYC and go from there. Good luck
