Why Maryland Patients Choose Dr. Naderi
A Surgeon Trained in the Neck
Board certified twice
Dr. Naderi is certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. The muscles and glands of the deep neck are anatomy he trained in.
Recognized close to home
Newsweek named him one of America’s Best Plastic Surgeons for facelift in 2026. Washingtonian has selected him as a Top Doctor year after year, and the practice has been recognized in Best of Bethesda.
A teacher of other surgeons
He co-authored the facelift chapter, “Rhytidectomy,” in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Thieme) and has served as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Medical director of his surgery center
He performs neck lifts at Prince William Surgery Center, where he has been medical director since 2023, with anesthesia given by board-certified anesthesiologists.
His Approach
The Neck Is Shaped Under the Muscle
A neck is judged in profile, and much of the fullness under the chin sits beneath the platysma, the thin sheet of muscle at the front of the neck: the digastric muscles, the submandibular (salivary) glands and deep fat. Skin tightening and liposuction can’t reach it.
“My deep neck lift today is very different from what I did 20 years ago. … Today I lift far less skin, and I hardly ever remove the fat under the skin. In most people, that layer is what keeps the neck smooth. Instead, I work below the platysma, in the deep neck.”
Dr. Shervin Naderi
Through a small incision under the chin, he reduces the digastric muscles and the submandibular glands, and sometimes the deep fat, then tightens the platysma with a corset platysmaplasty. Most patients need this deep neck work together with a deep plane facelift: the neck is then lifted through incisions in front of and behind the ear, back up to where it came from, and the extra skin is removed.
A deep neck lift is usually the right answer when:
- Fullness under the chin doesn’t change with diet and exercise.
- The angle under the chin has softened and the jawline has lost its edge in profile.
- Vertical bands show at the front of the neck, or the salivary glands hang below the jaw.
- The neck skin has loosened, which is corrected together with a deep plane facelift.
Not ready for surgery? Botox can relax vertical neck bands for a few months, and Kybella can reduce a small pocket of fat. Neither tightens skin or treats the deep neck, and Dr. Naderi will tell you plainly which one fits you, including when the answer is no surgery at all.

Cost
What a Neck Lift Costs
The price includes Dr. Naderi’s fee, anesthesia, the surgical facility and your follow-up visits. Prices toward the higher end of the range typically include a deep plane facelift done at the same time. Where you fall depends on what your neck needs, and your exact quote follows your consultation.
Smaller problems may need less: a submentoplasty starts at $15,000, and neck liposuction is $8,000 to $15,000. Medical insurance does not pay for a cosmetic neck lift, and financing through Cherry is available for qualifying patients.

Questions
Neck Lift Questions from Maryland Patients
Is your office in Bethesda?
Our Maryland office is in Chevy Chase, at 5454 Wisconsin Avenue in the Barlow Building, about a mile and a half south of downtown Bethesda and one block from the Friendship Heights Metro. We also see patients in Reston, Virginia, and virtually.
Do I have to go to Virginia for my neck lift?
For most Maryland patients, only for surgery day. Your consultation, pre-op visit and follow-up visits are scheduled at our Chevy Chase office. Surgery is at Prince William Surgery Center in Virginia, where Dr. Naderi operates under general anesthesia given by board-certified anesthesiologists, and we can arrange a car to and from the center if you need it.
How much does a neck lift cost?
$20,000 to $60,000, including Dr. Naderi’s fee, anesthesia, the surgical facility and your follow-up visits. Prices toward the higher end typically include a facelift done at the same time. Your exact quote follows your consultation, and Cherry financing is available for qualifying patients.
Do I need a facelift with my neck lift?
Usually, yes. Most patients need the deep neck work under the chin combined with a deep plane facelift, so the neck can be lifted through incisions in front of and behind the ear, back up to where it came from, and the extra skin removed. Dr. Naderi will tell you at your consultation which one you need.
How long is recovery after a neck lift?
Plan about two weeks off work and one month before you exercise. Most patients don’t need drains, and the final result shows at about six months.
Where are the scars?
A short incision under the chin, and with a deep plane facelift, incisions in front of and behind the ear. In men, Dr. Naderi places the incisions with the beard and sideburns in mind.
Can Botox or Kybella fix my neck instead?
Botox can relax vertical neck bands for a few months, and Kybella can reduce a small pocket of fat. Neither tightens skin or treats the fullness under the muscle.
How long does a neck lift last?
Typically 10 years or more. Your neck keeps aging, but it stays ahead of where it would have been. Staying out of the sun, not smoking, good medical-grade skin care and non-invasive follow-up treatments help it last longer.
