From Georgetown and Tenleytown it is a straight trip up Wisconsin Avenue, and Red Line riders from Dupont Circle, Woodley Park and Cleveland Park come straight up the line.

Why DC Patients Choose Dr. Naderi

Eyes That Look Rested, Never Done

  • He looks at the whole face

Dr. Naderi is board certified in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Because he operates only on the face and neck, he looks at your eyelids together with your brows and cheeks before deciding what will help.

  • Advice that isn’t skewed toward surgery

He performs his own injectable treatments too. If a non-surgical option will give you what you want, he will say so, and if it won’t, he will tell you that as well.

  • Recognized in Washington

Washingtonian has selected him as a Top Doctor year after year, and Newsweek has named him one of America’s Best Plastic Surgeons four years running.

  • A teacher of other surgeons

He has written textbook chapters on facial plastic surgery and served as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

His Approach

Conservative with Skin, Generous with Volume

Taking out a lot of eyelid skin is an older technique that many surgeons still use. It can leave the lids tight and make people look older and unwell rather than rested. Dr. Naderi removes skin only where it truly needs to go, and because the eyes lose volume with age, he often restores it with fat grafting using your own fat, along the upper lid, the bony rim under the brow and beneath the lower lids.

Every lower lid is done through an incision hidden inside the lid, with no cut on the skin. He removes the fat that causes the bags and often adds fat grafting to smooth the hollow beneath them. Repositioning the eyelid fat is saved mainly for patients who don’t have fat to spare elsewhere.

He also checks the brow before planning upper eyelid surgery. In his experience, about 9 out of 10 older patients who come in for upper eyelid surgery also need their brow reset, and removing skin alone can pull a low brow down further. That is why he often pairs upper eyelid surgery with a brow lift.

For under-eye hollows without real bags, Dr. Naderi steers most patients away from tear trough filler. For a small improvement, PRF gel injections are an option, and for a deeper hollow, fat injections. When the bags themselves are the problem, lower eyelid surgery is the lasting fix.

From Consultation to Recovery

  1. Consultation near Friendship Heights

Meet Dr. Naderi at our Chevy Chase office, one block from the Metro, or start with a virtual consultation. He examines your eyelids, brows and cheeks together. The consultation fee goes toward your surgery, and your pre-op visit is here too.

  2. Surgery day

General anesthesia in the operating room at Prince William Surgery Center in Virginia, given by board-certified anesthesiologists who supervise nurse anesthetists. Upper lids take 60 to 90 minutes, upper and lower together about two hours. You go home the same day with a responsible adult.

  3. The first two weeks

Upper lid stitches come out about a week after surgery. No flying for 7 to 10 days, and no eye makeup or contacts until Dr. Naderi clears you. Most patients are back at work in 1 to 2 weeks and look presentable in about 10 to 14 days.

  4. One month and beyond

No strenuous exercise for a month, full activity by about 3 months, and final results at 3 to 6 months. Follow-up visits, at 1 week, 1 month and typically 3 months, are in Chevy Chase.

Questions

Eyelid Surgery Questions from DC Patients

Do you have an office in Washington, DC?

Our closest office to the District is in Chevy Chase, Maryland, in the Barlow Building at 5454 Wisconsin Avenue, right at the DC line and one block from the Friendship Heights Metro. We also have an office in Reston, Virginia, and offer virtual consultations.

How do I get to your office by Metro?

Take the Red Line to Friendship Heights. The Barlow Building is one block from the station. From Dupont Circle, Woodley Park or Cleveland Park it is a straight ride up the line.

Do I have to go to Virginia for my eyelid surgery?

Only for surgery day. Your consultation, pre-op visit and follow-up visits are at our Chevy Chase office. Surgery is in the operating room at Prince William Surgery Center in Virginia, under general anesthesia given by board-certified anesthesiologists who supervise nurse anesthetists.

How much does eyelid surgery cost?

Upper eyelid surgery is $8,000 to $15,000 and lower eyelid surgery is $8,000 to $15,000, including Dr. Naderi’s fee, general anesthesia, the surgical facility fee and all follow-up visits. Cherry financing is available for qualifying patients.

Does insurance cover eyelid surgery?

No. Eyelid surgery at The Naderi Center is cosmetic, so it is self-pay and is not billed to insurance. Cherry financing is available if you would like to pay over time.

How long is recovery from eyelid surgery?

Most patients are back at work in 1 to 2 weeks and look presentable in about 10 to 14 days. No strenuous exercise for a month, full activity by about 3 months, and final results at 3 to 6 months.

Should I see an oculoplastic surgeon or a facial plastic surgeon for eyelid surgery?

Both facial plastic surgeons and oculoplastic surgeons are trained to operate on the eyelids. Dr. Naderi is a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon whose training covers the whole face, so he looks at your eyelids together with your brows and cheeks. That often decides whether eyelid surgery alone will give you the result you want, or whether a brow reset or fat grafting should be part of the plan. Whoever you see, ask about their board certification and how often they perform eyelid surgery.

Do people regret eyelid surgery?

In Dr. Naderi’s experience, his eyelid surgery patients don’t regret it. The result patients most want to avoid is lids that look tight or hollow because too much skin was removed, which is why he is conservative with skin and restores lost volume with your own fat.
