Are You a Candidate for a Liquid Nose Job?

The best candidates for non-surgical rhinoplasty have a very flat nose or small indentations after surgery, and a small dorsal hump with room above or below it can be an okay candidate. A very droopy tip or a nose that is already high is not a good candidate, because filler makes the nose bigger and cannot lift the tip enough.

Key Points from Dr. Naderi

  1. With a dorsal hump, filler can make the nose straighter, but it also makes it bigger.
  2. A pretty nose matters for the middle of the face, and a perfectly straight nose is not automatically attractive. For a woman, he says, you want a nice feminine nose.
  3. He examines each patient and uses computer imaging to show both the non-surgical and the surgical look. He recently talked three patients out of non-surgical rhinoplasty this way.
  4. He does thousands of non-surgical rhinoplasties and loves them, but you need an expert who will tell you when it is not the right choice.

Hi guys, happy Wednesday, happy Wednesday. Is Wednesday hump day or Thursday? I don't know. Anyway, I wanted to talk to you about something super important.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty, basically fillers to the nose. Now, it's super popular. A lot of people are doing it. Almost everybody's doing it these days as far as injectors, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, nurse injectors, PAs, nurse practitioners, everybody's doing it.

Lots of plastic surgeons offering it. However, there is clearly a good candidate for it, an okay candidate and no candidate. And I want to discuss this. The perfect candidate for it, it has a very flat nose, super flat, lots of Asian noses, some African American noses, some Hispanic noses.

That's great. If you've had surgery and you have little indentations, for example, afterwards, that's also a great candidate for it. Just a nice way of smoothing it out. What's an okay candidate?

Okay candidate is somebody who has a dorsal hump, a little bit of bump, but there's still area above it or below it to basically fill it in. And you can make it nicer. That's an okay candidate. The nose gets bigger, but it's straighter.

That's an okay candidate. What's not a good candidate? If you have a super droopy tip, droops down, there's no way of lifting it up to a right amount. Or if the nose is already high, if the nose is already high and you fill it up, it's going to feel like it's coming off the forehead.

That is not a good candidate. But unfortunately, a lot of patients walk into places, doesn't matter whether it's a nurse injector, a plastic surgeon, dermatologist, whoever, people that will just do it because they see a hump and it's almost like a target. And I'm like, I'm going to fill that. But I'm going to tell you a pretty nose is important for the middle of the face.

I love beautiful noses. I'm not all about just a perfectly straight nose. You can make a nose perfectly straight, but it looks like an avatar or just a giant structure. That's not attractive.

If you're a six foot six dude, sure, but if you're a woman, you want to have a nice feminine nose. So just in the last 48 hours, I've had three consultations that have come in for non-surgical and I do computer imaging. I examine them, do computer imaging and I show them the two options and I show them the non-surgical look as well as the surgical look. And all three, including myself, when we look at including the patients, were like, let's not do the non-surgical.

You're not a candidate. Now I could have done it. It would have taken me five minutes to do the non-surgical. We charged $2,500 for it.

So in five minutes, I could have made $2,500, but what did I do? Instead, I spent almost an hour doing computer imaging, explaining to them why they shouldn't do it. And I showed them the alternative, the surgical alternative. Now, I'm not fooling myself.

They may do the surgery. They may not do the surgery. They may hold off on it. They may never come back.

They may go somewhere else and do the surgery. But the right thing to do was to show them what needs to be done. Not just go put the filler in there. So 2,500 times 3, it's $7,500 that I just said, bye-bye.

I don't need that. But I want to do the right thing for you. I want to show you what the right thing is. So it's super important when you talk about non-surgical rhinoplasty to go to somebody who has the proper aesthetics of the nose.

Luckily, I do have a good handful of friends around town, injectors from different locations, med spas, different plastic surgery offices, who when they have a patient in that situation, they say, no, you know, we could do your non-surgical, but you should go see Dr. Naderi. So they come here. But if you're in a place that there's no Dr.

Naderi really close to you, you should make sure that you're not just getting a bigger nose for the sake of getting a bigger nose, because that's what fillers do. Sometimes it's the right thing. And I do thousands of non-surgicals. I love non-surgicals.

But sometimes it's not the right thing. You got to go to an expert who can tell you what's what. Anyway, I'm about to go see a patient who I talked out of non-surgical. And now she decided to do surgery, which is going to have a really nice cute nose.
