Will there be a period of time after facelift surgery when I’ll need to be recovering in bed?
After a facelift surgery, I typically want my patients to take it easy for the first couple of days and rest. Staying relaxed and avoiding stress is important for letting the body and face recover from the surgery. Good nutrition and rest promote faster healing and return to normal activity level. Being too active or straining in the first few days may increase swelling, bruising and risk of bleeding under the skin. With that said, rest does not necessarily mean bed rest. I encourage my patients to spend a majority of their day out of bed, resting in a chair, walking around the house and keeping the head elevated to reduce swelling.
