Will cheek implant placement and then early removal cause the malar fat pad to descend downwards off the bone? I had 4mm terino siliconemalar shells and small premaxillary implant placed and left in for only 3.5 weeks, they were removed 5 weeks ago. I now have n/f that were not present before, am heavier in the lower face and my marrionette lines are much worse than before, also my nose is wide, is it possible that scar tissue formed leaving some augmentation?Could it be residual swelling? Is it really possible that the tissues will shrink back? I was told that one of the benefits of this surgery is that it’s reversible…it seems not.
The act of surgery creates changes to your face. Elevation of the skin, muscle and fascia in order to place the implants creates changes. Even if your plastic surgeon just simply places the implant and removes it 1 minute later, the tissue has changed. i.e. your face has changed. Add to it swelling and scar tissue and you cannot expect the tissue, i.e. your face, to go back to 100% the way it was before, even without the implant. Talk to your plastic surgeon and discuss this with him but you have to be realistic and understand that it is unrealistic to go back to your precise pre-operative state.
