I had rhinoplasty one year ago. A few months after I felt a tingling feeling and all of a sudden had a large hard bump appear on the side of my nose. This is also the same area that if I press on it sounds like fluid is under the skin. The bump goes down after a few hours. This has happens about 6 times over the past year. I mentioned it to my surgeon at about 6 months and he said it was merely part of the healing process. I don’t think he quite believed me about the bump and of course since it goes down in a few hours I didn’t have a chance to show him either.
Some days it seems there is more fluid than others. And other than when it suddenly swells for no apparant reason, it looks perfectly normal. Will this ever go away or is there something that should be done about it?
Hello Anne Marie,
Your situation certainly does not sound normal, especially if this “bump” is considerable in size. Cysts & fistulas can occur. You should see another plastic surgeon to have this evaluated if your own surgeon is brushing it off. Try to take a picture of this area when it comes up so that you can show it to your surgeon. Good luck
