Question: I have been reading about the different injectable fillers (Juvederm, Perlane, Radiesse, Restylane) and don’t really understand their differences. What differentiates them, and how are they used?
Answer: Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane are all Hyaluronic Acid fillers which are clear gels. Radiesse is essentially “bone cement” which is a white thick substance. The different uses depend on the location on the face being injected, depth of injection, your skin thickness and other factors. Seeing a board certified facial plastic surgeon that carries all of the fillers will hopefully ensure that you end up with the filler that is right for you and not just one that is sitting on the doctor’s shelf.
