I read that migration is a possible complication with injectable fillers. What does this mean and how common is it?
Answer:
Migration is movement of the filler from one place to another. Migration of filler is not a common complication with the majority of the temporary fillers, such as Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane and Radiesse. This problem has occurred with some of the permanent or semi-permanent fillers such as Silicone or Artecoll, There is a difference between migration and displacement. Fillers can be manipulated and displaced once they are injected for the first several days up to a week; however migration after this point is a rare occurrence.
