How do you prevent lumps with injectable fillers?
There are many different fillers on the market today. Each filler has qualities that determine where on the face it can be injected and how deep in the skin it should be placed. Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm, are safe to inject in the lip, nasolabial folds, and the tear trough area. Other fillers such as Radiesse, which is a made of calcium hydroxyapatite can potentially cause lumps if injected in areas such as the tear troughs around the eyes or the lips and is not recommended for this purpose. Furthermore, when injecting fillers like Radiesse, it is important the substance is not placed too superficially in the skin. Choosing a qualified physician that is skilled injector is probably the most important way to prevent lumps.
