I’ve heard people rant and rave about their chemical peel. My only concern is about the duration of its effects. Post chemical peel, how long do the effects last for?
Answer:
The duration of the effects following a chemical peel vary with the depth of the peel. Superficial chemical peels with alpha hydroxyl acids typically refresh the skin and improve overall texture and tone. Superficial chemical peels may lighten discolorations and skin irregularities, but typically don’t improve wrinkles. The results following a superficial peel will typically last several months. Sometimes a series of superficial peels are needed to achieve desired improvement. A medium to deep peel will improve wrinkles, remove age spots, improve acne and chickenpox scars and reverse many of the signs of sun damage. The effects from deep chemical peels are long lasting, where most patients won’t need to repeat such a peel.
