How often do you perform the midface lift? Who is this procedure right for?
A midface lift is a surgical procedure that elevates the soft tissue in the cheeks and smooth’s the transition from the lower eyelid area to the cheek. As we age, there is a downward decent of our soft tissue as well as volume loss in the cheeks, around the nose and around the eyes. This can often give a tired or hollowed appearance. While the midface lift can provide a subtle improvement, it is often performed in combination of other procedures such as upper and lower eyelid lifts and brow lifts to achieve the rejuvenated appearance that most people desire. The midface lift will not however improve the jowls or neck area. When considering a midface lift, it is important to consider that the midface lift does requires a significant amount of downtime for the swelling to resolve, anywhere from 2-6 weeks for initial swelling up to 6 months. In my practice (Dr. Jessica Kulak) in Chevy Chase, MD and Herndon, VA I will often utilize fillers and autologous fat transfer to rejuvenate the midface with less downtime and risk of complications.
