Question: Since my facelift, which was almost 3 months ago, I’ve experienced much numbness in my face. This is occurring around my ears down to my jaw. Is it normal to still be experiencing numbness this long after surgery? Will it go away or is it possibly permanent?
Answer: Please see your own plastic surgeon and discuss this with him or her. Some numbness is normal but your numbness sounds like damage to the Greater Auricular Nerve. This is a known complication of a facelift and it may resolve over the next 1-2 years or it may be permanent.
