My name is Tsisia and im doctor from Moscow. I wanted to know your opinion about an botox injection for young patients(from 20 years old) because as i know there 2 different opinions about it: a) age doesnt matter if there is an indication; b) botox becomes inefficient at a later date because it becomes addictive, so its better to wait and not to make the injection to young patient. I would be very grateful to get an answer from you, because your opinion is quite important for me. Thanks in advance. Best regards.

Dear Dr.
Thank you for the question. Very good question and many people have the same question.
Botox when used at a younger age is often needed in a lower dose to prevent lines and wrinkles. Once the lines or wrinkles form, Botox by itself wont erase these lines and further additional treatments with resurfacing (Lasers, Peels, Dermabrasion) become necessary.
I like to start my patients on Botox and skincare in their 20’s so that they can slow down the aging process and hold on to their youthful features longer.
I have not seen patients that became addicted to botox other than the fact that they like what it does for them so they continue getting the injections. There is no true addiction meaning higher and higher doses are not necessary. While a very small number of patients metabolize the botox quicker, I do not see that as being age related.
I do not like a frozen look with Botox. I like my patients to have expression and not look plastic or fake. I just don’t want them to fully “crack” the lines in order to prevent getting permanent wrinkles and lines.
