I am 65. Had facelift to correct bags and festoons. Now, malar bags are more prominent, with a semi circular skin fold on each side. I am a month post surgery. Is there still hope for improvement? I doubt it. How long before I can have the excision. Also, no one describes what the scar is like. Where exactly does it go? does it fade to have skin color? How long to fade? Is it thin? like the Blapheroplasy? or like the face lift scars on the side of the face? Is it worse or better than that ugly fold, if skilfully done? Thank you so much for you time and talent and for sharing it. Bless you.

Hi. First of all I cannot make specific comments about your face and your surgery without seeing you and examining you. More importantly we need to clarify what exactly it was that you had done. A “facelift” does not correct bags and festoons. The treatment of lower lid bags and festoons is a lower lid blepharoplasty. A facelift corrects jowls and a sagging neck. The rest of your questions are specific to a facelift and the scars of a facelift can be barely visible if the plastic surgeon did a good tension free closure or the scars can be very thick or wide and noticable and deforming if the cosmetic surgeon did a lousy job and pulled the skin too tight. Please see your plastic surgeon and ask him these questions.
