Question: What are the major differences between Botox and Dysport?
Answer: Dysport is abobotulinum toxin and Botox is onabotulinum toxin. Their molecular structure is slightly different. Botox and Dysport are both FDA approved for treatment of frown lines. The dose is different. Typically 2-3 times more Dysport is required but the cost is about the same as Dysport costs ½ to 1/3rd the cost of Botox. Dysport works faster but lasts about the same. I tell my patients that Dysport and Botox are like Pepsi and Coke. Some prefer one over the other but most can’t tell a big difference.
