How do you know whether eyelid surgery or a browlift is needed for sagging upper eyelids?
Both decent of the eyebrows and excess eyelid skin and fat can contribute to a sagging or heavy upper eyelid. In some patients, a heavy eyelid may be caused by only excess upper eyelid skin, while in others the eyelid skin may be normal when the brows are in proper position. Some patient’s eyelids appear tired or heavy from a combination of the excess eyelid skin and a lower eyebrow position. The eyebrows in women should gently arch approximately one centimeter above the orbital rim. If the eyebrows are in good position, then excess skin and/or fat is what is mainly contributing to the heavy appearance of the eyelids. The best way to know whether you need a blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery and/ or a browlift or forehead lift is to be evaluated in one our greater Washington DC offices, located in Chevy Chase, Maryland or Reston, Virginia
