Laser resurfacing can be a great way to improve rhinophyma. Laser resurfacing ablates this abnormal tissue layer by layer to return the nose to a more normal appearance. The goal is to remove the abnormal tissue above the deeper layers of the skin. The skin will then heal and regrow the top layers of skin. When rhinophyma is severe, sometimes surgical excision or electrosurgery can also be utilized to further contour and reshape the nose to a more normal appearance. The treated area will be raw for several weeks while the new layer of skin is regrowing.
