I’ve heard some fillers like Radiesse can cause lumps in the treatment area. How can this be avoided?
Any filler can cause a lump if injected poorly. Some fillers create more lumps such as Artefill, Sculptra and Radiesse as well as fat injections. Initially the lump can be from swelling or bruises under the skin but it may be too much filler clumped in one area or it may be scar tissue reaction if the lumps occur later on. Good plastic surgery technique is the most important factor in avoiding lumps and proper patient selection. I prefer Juvederm in patients with thinner skin for this reason.
