I’m interested in an injectable filler procedure. What can I expect from the treatment?
There are many different types of fillers and areas on the face that fillers can be used on. The majority of the temporary fillers on the market will show improved volume immediately after the injection. The most commonly used fillers are the hyaluronic fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane and Belotero, and Radiesse, which is calcium based filler. The injectable filler procedure can be performed in an office environment and is well tolerated by most patients. The majority of the fillers have numbing medication mixed into them, which also has improved comfort during the injection. Sometimes a topical numbing cream can be utilized to further minimize pain. A nerve block with numbing medication can be used for sensitive areas such as the lips. After the procedure, you may have a small amount of swelling from the injection, but most people can go back to work or their daily activity without a problem. Bruising after filler injections may occur in some patients, especially in the under eye area. Discoloration from a bruise will typically resolve in a week.
