Question: I’m a healthy 28-year-old female and I’m considering rhinoplasty to straighten and contour my nose. Can you explain the consultation process? Will I come away from that with a concrete idea or “blueprint” for what my new nose will look like?
Answer: The consult starts by you filling out a detailed medical and surgical history so that I can understand your general health and any medications or supplements that you take. This form is ideally filled out prior to your arrival as we pride ourselves in not making patients wait in the reception room for prolonged periods of time. We try to give you an experience that is not typical of the “usual doctor’s office.” Being timely allows us to keep the patient flow progressing smoothly and allows me to spend a good amount of time with each and every patient so that you do not feel rushed and that the patient after you does not have to wait.
I then see and talk to you about your goals and expectations. This is a very important part of the process because I want to give you the nose that you want (within reason of course as some patients ask for unrealistic or unsafe nose jobs!) I exam you then take your pictures and do computer imaging. We discuss your surgery while I show you your suggested post rhinoplasty results on a 55″ LCD screen so we can discuss details and nuances. Once we reach an agreement as to the “blueprint” then my staff will provide you with a price estimate. I email you the pictures and ask you to sleep on it and then come back in when you are ready to schedule your rhinoplasty so we can go over everything once again to make sure there are no unanswered questions. There is a lot more involved with the scheduling but this should give you a good idea of what the rhinoplasty consult process is like.
