dear dr. n.,
i’m 14 years old and i broke my nose a couple years ago in a car acciedent. i have some trouble breathing threw my left side. i know you do nose-jobs but my question is how old do you have to be, and how much is the average surgery?
Answer:
Hi,
The first thing is to have a Facial Plastic Surgeon or an ENT surgeon look inside your nose and evaluate the condition of your septum. Ideally we like to wait till the age of 16 before doing any septal surgery unless the deformity is so severe that breathing is significantly affected to the point that the quality of life is decreased substantially.
If your septum is not severely deviated and you can wait then its best to do so until you are about 16 years of age. There are some exceptions but 16 is a safe age to think about Rhinoplasty (nose job).
Cost varies from patient to patient depending on how much work is needed at the time of surgery.
