Question: I have horizontal wrinkles in my neck and sagging in my cheeks. I would like a facelift. Do you recommend laser skin resurfacing on the neck to remove the creases? I believe they are permanent, although they’ll probably be less noticeable after the face lift.
Answer: Face lift may or may not include a neck lift depending on each cosmetic surgeon’s nomenclature and preference. Typically facelifts for me include a cheek lift and a neck lift. Some plastic surgeons will only do the cheek lift though. The neck wrinkles improve with the facelift but do not disappear. Laser resurfacing cannot be done on the neck the same way it can on the face therefore that’s not an option. Some dermatologists do a “micro laser peel” on the neck and while that may be safe for the neck, it is too weak to improve lines or wrinkles.
