Hi Dr. Naderi,
I have a history of keloid scars resulting from very heavy acne – one on my chest and a few on my back. Most of the keloid scars are relatively flat but still red (some dark some light) in color. I have found that I react very favorably to injections (I was in London for 2 years and responded very well to the steroid injections the doctor used there). I have not responded well to either the erbium yag laser or the pulsed-dye. What can you recommend for me and what is your consultation fee?
Thank you.
Emily
Answer:
Hi Emily,
Steroid injections work well to reduce the size and raised appearance of Hypertrophic scars as well as keloids. It sounds like you may have hypertrophic scars rather than Keloids but once I see you I can determine that. Keloids go beyond the boundry of the scar but hypertrophic scars are merely thick and sometimes reddish in appearance.
Pulsed Dye Lasers should work well on Hypertrophic scars as well. Erbium is not the answer.
My cosmetic consultation fee for cosmetic surgery or procedures is $100. If you decide not to have any cosmetic procedures, you will still have gained lots of additional knowledge and information by taking advantage of the expertise of a Facial Plastic Surgeon and a face specialist. You will never be pressured into any procedure and there is never a sale’s pitch at The Naderi Center. This is a physician’s office with integrity and compassion and the consult fee is simply for the evaluation and treatment options and information gained by you.
I look forward to seeing you.
