hi, i just posted a question and believe it or not, i forgot to add something…question….the doc injected the captique deep, it sounded like he was hitting my bone each and every time. Is there a possibility that a piece of bone could chip off or something and cause an infection…i know this may sound silly, however, i am trying to figure out what is going on with me since i am the only one that seems to really care. My doctor does not have to walk around with the pain or have to look loke me after this filler. Nothing was explained to me put possible bruising and slight redness. nothing about your an infetion looking like cellulitis and lumps of blood and pus…he told me today that it was probably do to my skin being contaminated. How is this possible. I went with no makeup on and then they are supposed to put alohol or something on you prior to the injetions…..HELP!!!!
Answer:
The injection in the eyelid tear-trough area needs to be deep and right on top of the bone but potentially the needle could have “seeded” bacteria from your skin to the deep areas. This complication is EXTREMELY rare and again, after thousands of injections, I have never seen that happen. However, the skin should be sterilized at least with alcohol prior to injection. And although these risks are mentioned in the consent forms, when they do occur, it is a devastating situation for the patient who came in as you did for an elective cosmetic enhancement. Like I mentioned before, you need to find another surgeon who will give you a 2nd opinion and you have to be treated properly and followed closely till everything has completely healed. Trying to figure out what happened is not as important as taking care of what has happened. There will be time for speculation later. For now be aggressive in demanding care from your doctors.
Good luck.
