Dear Doctor,
I had heart valve replacement surgery a little over 2 years ago, and wonder whether I could be a candidate for rhytec plasma resurfacing. I’m on coumad (Warfarin). I am 57 years old and would like to have this, but I value my life more than beauty and am concerned about safety/risks.
Thanking you in advance,
Answer:
Hi,
In general Rhytec Plasma procedure does not cause bleeding so patients on Coumadin should technically be fine however you can never predict complications.
Furthermore, the procedure can be uncomfortable and often is done under IV sedation and depending on your INR level, it would not be wise to start an IV in a patient who is therapeutic on Coumadin (Warfarin).
I wish you luck.
