I’m from Herndon and I’m very interested in getting blepharoplasty to fix some aging issues around my eyes. However, with all the new non-invasive procedures available these days I was wondering if there are any effective non-surgical alternatives.
A Blepharoplasty or eyelid lift is the best way to remove excess eyelid skin and fat that can occur as we age. There are several non-surgical alternatives for rejuvenation of the eyelid area. Neurotoxins, such as Botox and Dysport are effective treatment for reducing the wrinkles around the eyes, such as “crow’s feet”, and the lines between the eyes that form when we scowl, frown and concentrate. The horizontal lines across the forehead can also be effectively treated with Botox or Dysport. In addition to improving the lines around your eyes, an experienced injector can also utilize Botox or Dysport to open up the eye area and give the brows a small browlift. As we age, we also have significant volume loss that can contribute to an aged appearance. Hollowing in the upper and lower eyelid can be filled Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane or Juvederm. The tear trough is a common area that can also be filled to improve the appearance of lower eye area. Laser resurfacing and chemical peels can improve the crepe appearance of the eyelid skin and further reduce wrinkles. To give you an individualized recommendation on improving the eyelid area, it would be best to evaluate you in our facial plastic surgery practice in Herndon, Virginia.
