Good evening Dr. N: I am considering having a lifestyle lift and am looking for some feeback on this procedure. Thank you.
Answer:
Hello,
Lifestyle lift is a Trademarked procedure offered by the Lifestyle lift company’s doctors. The company was started by Dr. David Kent who is an ENT surgeon from Michigan. The company has many offices throughout the country and employs Plastic Surgeons, Facial Plastic Surgeons and ENT surgeons. The procedure is not new nor is it exclusive to the Lifestyle lift doctors & company. Essentially this is a cheek lift or a mini facelift done under local anesthesia. It is a variant of the s-lift, J-lift, U-lift (all names for their incision shape). There are other names for this procedure as well such as Quicklift, weekend lift, Band-aid lift, etc.
The ideal patient for such procedures is a middle aged person with minimal to moderate jowls. It is not meant to treat sagging neck tissue nor should it be used in obese face/necks or patients with severe aging face changes. The variations of the procedure differ in the incision placement and the suture types used but the extent of dissection and hence “lifting” is minimal in each. However, depending on the actual surgeon’s skills, these procedure can leave unsightly scars in front and/or behind the ears and the longevity of the procedures in the sub-optimal patient is very disappointing. However, for the ideal candidate and with a good surgeon, the procedure is good.
