I had a chin implant (silicone) inserted intra-orally about 16 months ago. The surgery went well, I had no problem after. About 6 or 7 months later, there is a dent on my chin, it is not very noticeable, only when I smile a certain way. The dent is on the middle of the chin, outside, exactly on top of where the incision is. Also, if I move my mouth certain ways I can see the unevenness on the skin of my chin. Every now and then, I feel the numbness and tightness more than usual, and I notice since the surgery I get acne a lot more often on the chin area. Yesterday, I felt a red bump on the chin, I can see the skin inside is probably irritated and a bit swollen. It’s not that big or noticeable. But I want to have it checked. What is your consultation fee for something like this? Thanks a lot. Nina
What you are experiencing definitely should be checked out to make sure you don’t have an infection. The other skin issues and dimple may be due to scar tissue and muscle changes and the size of the implant, etc. You should always try to see the plastic surgeon who did the surgery 1st unless you live in the Washington DC, Northern Virginia, Chevy Chase Maryland area and your surgeon is not here. If there is any acute sign of infection or problems then you should see your family doctor to start antibiotics or even visit the local Emergency Room. Otherwise, you can call my office to schedule an appointment. The consult fee is $240 normally.
