I’m from Washington DC. I really want to have better looking eyes and I have scheduled blepharoplasty twice, yet cancelled both times. I guess I am worried about something happening to my eyes. Is there any chance of something happening to my eyesight?
It is quite common to have anxiety before any surgical procedure. Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is a commonly performed operation in my Greater Washington DC practice. Every surgical procedure carries a risk of potential complications and it is important that your surgeon fully discusses the risks and benefits of any procedure. Change of vision following an eyelid surgery is rare but a potential complication. This can be caused by injury to muscles that move your eye or from bleeding that is not treated in the postoperative period. Avoiding medication that can increase bleeding and maintaining a normal blood pressure are two important factors that can reduce your risk of postoperative bleeding.
