Celebrity Botox.
Answer:
Getting Botox is hardly newsworthy these days. Since its FDA approval ten years ago, Botox Cosmetic has likely been used by hundreds if not thousands of celebrities. At its onset, however, you would have been hard pressed to find a celebrity who would admit to receiving Botox injections despite their smooth foreheads and crease-free skin. Over the past few years, however, many celebrities have finally fessed up and admitted to their Botox use.
Sharon Osbourne was one of the first celebrities to admit to receiving Botox injections for the frown lines in her forehead, though she took a break while undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Other celebrities that have admitted to using Botox include Simon Cowell, Jennie Garth, Kim Kardashian and Vanessa Williams. Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie, Demi Moore and Megan Fox have all been rumored to have gotten Botox as well. Jenny McCarthy has stated in People Magazine that she gets Botox injections for her forehead every two months, while Nicole Kidman and Courteney Cox both have said they’ve tried it but have discontinued injections because they didn’t like how they looked and felt. Some celebrities like David Hasselhoff, Joan Rivers and Lara Flynn Boyle have taken their Botox a bit too far, resulting in what some refer to as “frozen face” with an unnaturally smooth and overly taught appearance free of natural expression.
Botox, as well as its competitor Dysport, are different from dermal fillers in that they relax the muscles responsible for facial lines and wrinkles rather than simply filling them in. They are ideal for treating crow’s feet, frown lines, worry lines, and lines in the neck. Injectables like Botox are performed in the office setting and can be done with a topical numbing cream, ice pack or a dental block to ensure the patient’s comfort. Treatment takes just ten minutes or so to complete and there is no downtime afterward. Results typically last three to six months. Botox can be an excellent way to restore a smoother, more youthful facial appearance, but it’s important to select a qualified and experienced facial plastic surgeon to perform your treatments.
