What are the best uses of laser resurfacing?
Answer:
There are two types of lasers used for improving skin. There is a nonablative laser that targets the deeper layers of the skin and an ablative resurfacing laser that vaporizes the upper layers. A nonablative laser is great for improving skin texture, skin tone, vascularity, redness and brown discoloration. Non ablative laser resurfacing offers the advantage of limited downtime. Ablative laser resurfacing is a more effective modality for improving wrinkles, tightening skin, sun spots and discoloration. Typically, there are several days to weeks of downtime as the top layer of skin is healing. Fractionated ablative lasers are commonly used for resurfacing with significantly less downtime.
