Question: I am an African American with a darker skin tone. I have uneven pigmentation around my face and neck and would like to know if a chemical peel or dermabrasion procedure would work as well on me as it would for a lighter skinned person.
Answer: A good at home medical skin care regimen using Obagi or another cosmeceutical product line with Retin-A and Hydroquinone or a skin lightning cream is important. You have to see your doctor to make sure you are medically able to use these medical grade skin care products. Light peels and microdermabrasion can be done as well. Chemical peels like VI Peel or Blue Peel should be done after your skin is prepped for 4-6 weeks on skin lightning creams. This is often a lifelong process of caring for your skin.
