Question: I am a 15-year-old Asian American guy who would like a nose job. My doctor told me that men keep growing until at least 18 years of age; am I too young to get this surgery?
Answer: Usually I like to wait till 16 for most patients seeking a nose job. Occasionally I will be OK performing a rhinoplasty on a patient as young as 14 if they are mentally mature and can demonstrate that they are practically done with their physical growth. For example, if your parents are 5’9″ each and you are only 5’2″ at 15 then I would say you should wait till 18 to make sure your growth, including facial growth is near completion. Women do usually develop sooner than men both mentally and physically so waiting a little while longer is not a bad idea.
