There’s no shame in undergoing a facelift. It’s a popular, long-lasting procedure that’s used to alleviate some of the signs of aging, especially around the cheeks, jaw, and neck. While some celebrities are rumored to have undergone facelifts, others embrace the work they’ve had done. Here are ten celebrities who are not ashamed to admit they’ve had work done to help alleviate loose, sagging skin on the face for a more youthful glow.
Roseanne Barr
Actress Roseanne Barr admits she had a facelift in 1991. Paired with rhinoplasty, the actress admits it was a scary procedure, made worse when the surgeon left a scalpel behind and had to perform a second surgery to remove it. At the time, she said she felt pressured into looking right and also used plastic surgery as a way to avoid her husband. Now in her 60s, Roseanne Barr admits she is a happy grandmother and mother. She’s talked about wanting to get a waist reduction and butt implants, but she fears anesthesia at her age.
Cher
With a body many women would kill for, Cher doesn’t hide the fact that she’s used plastic surgery to hide the effects of aging. Nearing her seventies, the actress and singer looks much younger than her actual age. She admits she’s had a facelift, and then goes on to ask “who hasn’t?”
Jeanne Cooper
The late actress Jeanne Cooper championed the televised facelift. In a time when most women were hiding following plastic surgeries, the Young and the Restless actress had her real-life surgery televised as part of her character’s storyline. She claimed that after her surgery aired, many people came up to her and thanked her for making it a surgery they no longer felt they had to keep hidden.
Michael Douglas
Actor Michael Douglas underwent a facelift shortly before Catherine Zeta-Jones gave birth to their second child. Rather than travel to the surgeon’s clinic, Douglas arranged to have the surgeon come to his private hotel suite. It is believed Douglas opted for a facelift to try to slow the signs of aging as he neared his 60th birthday.
Jane Fonda
Jane Fonda hates admitting that she turned to plastic surgery to help ease the signs of aging, but she also doesn’t want to lie. She had work done to fix sagging skin on her neck and jawline, and she also underwent eyelid surgery to help reduce the bags under her eyes.
Bruce Jenner
After his stunning performance in the 1980 Olympics, Bruce Jenner underwent a mini-facelift and the results were not as expected. After hitting his 60th birthday, the former Olympian decided it was time to get a corrective facelift with a second plastic surgery. He felt the second surgery went better.
Sharon Osbourne
Sharon Osbourne never thought she’d be one to go for a facelift. One day, she woke up and didn’t like the signs of aging appearing on her face. She underwent a facelift and needed two weeks to recover. She was scared to look at the end results, but once she talked herself into it, she was amazed to see her double chin and jowls had disappeared. She’s learned to watch for signs of infection after a cosmetic surgery and believes that the range of procedures available is beneficial to women who want to make improvements for themselves, not others.
Joan Rivers
Joan Rivers underwent her first facelift in the 1980s. She claims it was a frightening experience at the time, but she is vocal about having undergone the surgeries. She loved the end results and doesn’t want to be one of those women who has work done and then tries to hide it from others.
Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed
Gene Simmons and his then girlfriend (now wife) Shannon Tweed underwent facelifts together for their reality show. At the time, Simmons knew he had jowls and opted to get rid of them. Shannon Tweed, an actress and former Playboy Playmate, did not want him to end up looking younger than her, so she opted to have a facelift at the same time.
