Botox for the Prevention of Wrinkles
Botox has become one of the most popular non-invasive wrinkle treatments currently available. While many think of it as a way to banish unsightly forehead creases and frown lines for those in their 40s and above, it is increasingly being used on individuals in their 20s and 30s for wrinkle prevention.
In fact, young celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Hilary Duff have reportedly been undergoing routine Botox injections to help prevent wrinkles. Unlike fillers which fill in and plump up static wrinkles that are etched in the skin, Botox relaxes the underlying muscles associated with certain expressions. It is commonly used in areas like the eyes, forehead, mouth and neck to improve crow’s feet, worry lines, frown lines and neck bands.
Many believe that the sooner you begin a routine of regular, conservative, low-doses of Botox, the sooner you begin weakening the underlying muscles, thus preventing the formation of wrinkles. Furthermore, with repeat injections, the muscles may atrophy to some degree so that injections are needed less frequently over time.
Dr. Naderi performs Botox injections in the office setting using a topical numbing agent, ice or a dental block to maximize the patient’s comfort. The treatment takes just ten minutes or so to complete and is performed with a very fine needle. As a clinical instructor for Allergan and Medicis, Dr. Naderi teaches other doctors and dermatologists and nurse injectors the proper injection technique for Botox, Dysport, Restylane and Juvederm. His own technique is very gentle and precise, resulting in little pain, less bruising and more aesthetic results. Results typically last three to four months.
