Mixing and Matching Treatments – Can I Have Surgical and Non-Invasive Procedures?
There’s a short answer – yes. Of course, it doesn’t stop there, as it’s not as simple as having a Botox filler, and then deciding to go for a full facelift; the procedures need to be compatible.
A good surgeon will be able to work with whatever is available, but it helps to have a plan ahead of time, and make sure that the surgeon knows what it is.
During initial consultations for either surgery or some specific minimally-invasive procedure such as the injection of fillers, the question of using several approaches will probably come up, and it’s worth having some answers. One popular procedure, for example, is the midface lift, as practiced by Dr. Kulak at the Naderi Center. It concentrates on re-positioning skin tissue to restore contours and reduce the appearance of smile lines for a more youthful appearance.
Since the procedure takes around one and a half hours and the recovery time is a moderate two to three weeks, many patients opt to combine it with other procedures.
These can include:
· Brow lift
· Eyelid lift
· Filler injections
The advantage is that you’ll only need to recover once and will minimize time off work and the amount of time before you can get back to your normal activities. Of course, non-invasive procedures can yield similar results to surgery, but the effect is likely to be less long-lasting, which needs to be balanced against the benefit of quick results offered by injectables such as Botox or Radiesse.
By combining treatments, the patient has the opportunity to treat those areas where the most improvement is needed with surgery, whilst using supporting procedures on areas that do not need surgery or are not expected to age as fast. These are all options that the surgeon will discuss in the initial consultation.
