I do not know who you are or what "1 hour surgery" you are referring to. However, whatever we charge for the procedure does not reflect "one hour worth of work" but rather reflects the sweat and sacrifice of 17 years of training and education after graduating from high school. It reflects the hundreds of sleepless nights working 48 hours or more straight in a row, without any sleep or break, training and taking care of patients and accruing $200,000.00 in student loans. Furthermore, the price a specialist charges may be slightly more than the price other plastic surgeons charge but that price has the added "value" of decreased risks of complications and increased probability of satisfaction. No one can guarantee any surgical outcome since so many factors and variables such as healing and scar tissue molding are involved. However, you often get what you pay for. I have seen hundreds of patients who paid a little less in the first place by going "bargain hunting for their face surgery" but ended up needing much more costly revision surgery afterwards to correct major issues. Moreover, there are thousands of cosmetic surgeons out there charging greatly variable rates. There are some that charge half of what we charge and there are some that charge twice or three times what we charge. You can choose to go to whoever you prefer. Just like you cannot ask Bloomingdale's to match Walmart's prices, you cannot shame a plastic surgeon into lower rates. What you don't realize is the "value" of what you are paying for: Increased self confidence. You may think the cost of plastic surgery is high, but if you only knew the "overhead" or expense associated with operating these practices you would realize that 70% to 90% of what you pay is not profit for a plastic surgeon but rather simply pays the rent and salaries of employees and cost of insurance and all the little things that go into running a private plastics practice. More importantly, people with "Serious confidence problems" do not need plastic surgery. Serious confidence problems require counselling and mental coaching first. Plastic surgery can definitely improve one's self confidence but "serious" self confidence is not usually corrected with cosmetic surgery and patients with serious inner self issues are not appropriate candidates for elective cosmetic surgery until those serious issues are addressed and improved.
