The mid-face lift is a plastic surgery procedure designed to elevate the area of the mid face. The procedure repositions and lifts the soft tissue and skin of the cheeks, successfully decreasing the appearance of smiles lines and drooping or flat cheeks. The result is a rejuvenated, fuller and more youthful cheek contour. It may be performed on its own or it may be combined with other procedures such as a facelift, eyelid lift, brow lift or fat injection. Candidates for the mid-face lift include healthy patients who are looking to improve the appearance of deep nasolabial folds and flat cheeks.
Dr. Kulak
Dr. Kulak performs the mid-face lift at an INOVA system hospital, which include Fair Oaks Hospital, Loudoun Hospital, Fairfax Hospital, and Mt. Vernon Hospital. The procedure takes about one and a half hours to complete and may be performed with MAC (monitored anesthesia care) or general anesthesia. Incisions may be made inside of the mouth, along the lash line of the lower eyelid, and/or within the hairline. Once the incisions are made, the midface is elevated in a sub-periosteal plane and suspended with sutures or an Endotine device.
Mid-Face Lift Surgery Recovery
Swelling and bruising may occur after the mid-face lift, and swelling can last for up to several weeks. Patients may also experience some numbness or tightness of the skin, and any discomfort that occurs can be controlled easily with medication. Stitches, if necessary, are removed within seven days. Most patients are able to return to work within two weeks, and more strenuous activities or exercise within two to three weeks.
