Question: Hi Dr. Naderi, I have keloid scars which are very old, most are flat with one or two still raised. The flat ones are still reddish in color and I was wondering if you have any effective treatments for that. I have gone through almost 2 years of pulsed dye laser treatments in DC with no result. I went to London for 1 year where the doctor gave me monthly shots of higher dosed kenalog along with erbium yag laser which yielded greater results. Do you offer that in your office and if so, what is the price range? How much is the consultation fee? Thank you, Uyen Answer:
Hi, I would like to see some pictures of your scars if you can email them to me or you can come in for a consult. Keloid and Hypertrophic scars resond the best initially and then the response can plateau. Steroid injections work well for raised scars and PDL should work as well depending on the nature of the scar. CO2, Erbium lasers are options as in a Phenol peel but often Dermabrasion is the best choice. Some scars need to be excised and resutured. It just all depends on the nature of your scar.
