Forehead Wrinkles
Question: I'm interested in the most painless technique to smooth glabellar wrinkles. Are there any injectable fillers that would work? Answer:
Painless injections are a function of your plastic surgeon’s good technique. You can use topical numbing creams and ice to help reduce pain as well. But ultimately there will be some discomfort and it is not totally painless but with good plastic surgery technique you should be able to tolerate the filler injections. Botox or Dysport is also needed to smooth out the glabella. Answer: Typically you have to treat the glabella at the same time as the forehead because injecting botox to the forehead without injecting it to the frown lines may cause your eyebrows to get too low and feel too heavy. Cost varies greatly and it depends on your anatomy and musculature. Some patients need more Botox if they have very thick heavy muscles or a high hairline and others with shorter foreheads or weaker muscles may need less. Typically in my practice in Washington DC area I use 20-30 units for the glabella and forehead together which would cost $300-$450 but some patients may need more or less.
Question: What type of injectable filler is the longest lasting for diminishing forehead wrinkles? Does this filler have any complications associated with it? Answer:
Usually for the forehead we prefer Botox or Dysport rather than fillers unless the lines are very deep. I still prefer safer Hyaluronic acid fillers even though Artefill or other European fillers last longer. I think safety is the most important factor in any cosmetic procedure.
