Hi Dr. Naderi,
I am very interested in Artefil. I've had Radiesse several times and it doesn't usually last more than a few months for me (in the NL folds). My question is: a) what is the total cost of the injections (assuming I'm not allergic) and b) if this substance is permanent, won't it look weird as my skin begins to lose its elasticity?
Thanks!
Answer
HI,
I am surprised Radiesse only lasts a few months for you. It should last at least a year if not more. Injection placement and amount has a lot to do with the longevity of the substance as well.
Artefill is $1200 / 0.8cc syringe
Most patients need 1, 2 or 3 syringes injected several months apart after the initial skin test. It all depends on the depth of your nasolabial folds.
The reason the permanent injection in the nasolabial folds wont look bad as you age is that the area injected does not move. Its a static anatomic area. Also, the substance shoould be "feathered" into the soft tissue and not placed in one large "clump."
I hope this makes sense.

Botox
The facelift involves hidden incisions which are camouflaged inside of the hairline and inside of the ear for women or in front of the ear for men. Once the incisions are made, excess fat and skin are removed, muscles are tightened, and the skin is re-draped and the excess excised. The incisions are then meticulously closed and a dressing is applied.

How often do I need to go in for botox injections for them to be most effective?
Answer
Botox's physiological or chemical effectiveness wears off in 90-120 days.
However, some patients are able to get a few more weeks or months of benefit from their previous injection because their muscles "forget" how to frown!
